What can I expect in my first session?

The first session is about getting to know each other and beginning to understand what’s bringing you to therapy. We’ll talk about your goals, your history, and what you’re hoping to get out of our work together.

This session also includes what's called a diagnostic assessment, which is a standard part of starting therapy. It helps me get a clearer picture of your experiences, strengths, and any symptoms you may be navigating.

How often will we meet, and for how long?

Sessions are typically 53 minutes long, and most clients start with weekly appointments to build consistency and momentum in our work together. Over time, we may adjust the frequency based on your needs, goals, and what feels most supportive for you.

I feel nervous about starting therapy, is this normal?

Yes, it’s completely normal to feel nervous about starting therapy—especially if it’s your first time or you’re stepping into vulnerable territory.  You don’t have to have everything figured out or know exactly what to say. My job is to meet you where you are, create a space that feels safe and supportive, and move at a pace that feels right for you.
